Utilizing traditional and digital media as tools in the craft of visual communication, Chris Hipp has been an Illustrator since receiving his BFA degree in Commercial Illustration in 1986, from the University of Dayton, Ohio.

After a few successful years in the commercial illustration field, he began to indulge his interest in international volunteerism by traveling to the Soviet Union in the summer of 1989 to participate in a multi-national work camp at an archeology site in Tallin, Estonia.

In 1991, Hipp accepted an assignment as a Peace Corps Volunteer, working as a Graphic Artist for the Ministry of Health, on the island of Antigua, West Indies. A lasting influence in his life, the 2-year assignment offered him the opportunities to improve the visual communications for the Health Education Unit, teach a graphic design class to a small group of Antiguan adults, explore the culture and geography of the Caribbean, and meet his future wife, children's book illustrator, JoAnn Kitchel.

Since his return to the U.S., Hipp continues to advance his illustration experience from his home in New Hampshire, and has become the Lead Illustrator for PennWell Publishing, where he contributes to several award-winning monthly trade publications.

Hipp has made presentations before classrooms of students young and old, addressing topics from illustration to his Peace Corps experience.
